Silk / Polwarth 40/60% Wool Roving - Valentine's Day 1 - 4.2 ounces

$20.80 USD

Quantity Available:     1 only

This is a hand painted roving, or more properly combed top, for spinning.

This braid is shades of purple and pink.

Polwarth is an under-used fleece, second only to Merino in softness. It is spongy, dyes beautifully, spins fluffy and feels cuddly The fiber diameter is about 22 microns. The silk adds greater softness and luxury to this already very soft fiber. This is a blend of 40% silk and 60% Polwarth.

The Polwarth breed was developed in Australia by crossing Merino and Lincoln sheep. It is a hearty breed that can handle colder and wetter climates than Merino.

We name our braids based on the inspirations we get from the colors, drawing on nature, literature, mythology, geography, and our lives and travels.  Braids with the same name numbered sequentially are a matched set that were dyed together, although they may have different weights and look slightly different in the photos.

Our braids are dyed with fairly even distribution of colors. Photos are of each side of the coil, so you can see as much of the color as possible. These are the same braids from which I spin my yarns, so I dye them for that.
