DMC was a French supplier of high-grade yarn.  These cones come from their heyday in the industrial trade, from the latter half of the 20th century. DMC is still in business, but no longer operates in that market.

This yarn is their Article No. 5207, made from 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton, put up on No. 5 cones. This is a soft but sturdy 2-ply yarn with considerable sheen. The cones are listed as 500 grams. We have one weight 528 grams, and another weighing 474 grams, suggesting a small amount might have been used. The heavier cone should be about 1,900 yards, and the lighter one about 1,700 yards.
