This roving, or more properly combed top, is shades of red, orange, pink and yellow.

Exmoor Horn sheep are indigenous to the Exmoor region of southwestern England, with an ancient lineage. Remains of similar sheep have been found in Roman encampments in the area. They are a hill breed well adapted to the uplands of Exmoor, and have in fact played a role in shaping and maintaining the landscape there. They are listed as a rare breed.

The Exmoor Horn wool is considered to be relatively fine for a hill breed, but it is still coarser than most will find suitable for next-to-skin-use. The fiber diameter is 36-39 microns and the staple length is 3.5-4.5 inches. It will be good for hats, mittens and other outer garments, and should felt well. One of its historic uses has been for billiard tables.

My rovings are dyed with fairly even distribution of colors. Photos are of each side of the coil, so you can see as much of the color as possible. These are the same rovings from which I spin my yarns, so I dye them for that.

We name our braids based on the inspirations we get from the colors, drawing on nature, literature, mythology, geography, and our lives and travels. Braids with the same name numbered sequentially are a matched set that were dyed together, although they may have different weights and look slightly different in the photos. Each colorway is unique; we may sometimes repeat names, when a new colorway strikes us the same way as an older one.
