These vintage yarns cones were made by Heirloom Yarn. This is their "Olympic" line, product number 1009, which was made from wintuk, a variety of orlon acrylic fiber. It is 3/11 DK weight. Each cone weighs about 1 lb (plus the cardboard cone) and is approximately 1930 yards. This should be good for most projects, and will work well with knitting machines as well as hand knitting and weaving.
For hand knitting, recommended gauge is 20 stitches and 28 rows per 4" / 10 cm, on US 6 needles.
For crocheting, recommended gauge is 18 stitches and 20 rows per 4" / 10 cm, on an F hook.
Articles made from this yarn are machine washable and dryable.
