Teeswater Wool Roving - Under the Covers - 4.1 ounces
$21.00
This is a hand dyed roving, or more properly combed top, for spinning and felting.
This roving is shades of purple, pink, silver and cream.
The Teeswater sheep produces a long, curly and lustrous fleece. The name derives from the Tees River in Northern England. It’s one of those rasta sheep breeds with long curly locks and sheepdog faces. The wool is very shiny and reflective, with a little bit of a halo from the hair, but soft, nonetheless. Not a next to the skin wool for the sensitive, but definitely a good wool for something that needs drape.
My rovings are dyed with fairly even distribution of colors. Photos are of each side of the coil, so you can see as much of the color as possible. These are the same rovings from which I spin my yarns, so I dye them for that.
We name our braids based on the inspirations we get from the colors, drawing on nature, literature, mythology, geography, and our lives and travels. Braids with the same name numbered sequentially are a matched set that were dyed together, although they may have different weights and look slightly different in the photos.
