Handspun Merino wool / Trilobal Nylon yarn, Worsted weight, 360 yards - Rainbow Stars 3

$36.00 USD

This yarn is a dark navy blue color, with a sparkle and sheen from the added nylon. The sparkling effect is difficult to capture in the camera. The last photo attempts to show it in an extreme closeup.

This listing is for one two-ply skein, weighing 5.7 ounces., spun at an average of 1010 ypp (yards per pound), a worsted weight. These 360 yards wrap at about 8-12. The wool is sourced from and dyed by World of Wool, and is a well-integrated blend of 70% Merino wool with 30% trrilobal nylon.

Merino is the standard by which the fineness of wool is graded and is among the softest fleeces in the world. It’s an old breed, originally brought to the Iberian peninsula in the 12th or 13th century. Being small bodied, it is grown mostly for its exquisite wool. The staple is crimpy and shorter than some other popular breeds, but makes up for that in its legendary softness. This is a 23 micron Merino. For this yarn, it is blended with trilobal nylon, which adds strength and an iridescent, sparkling finish.

My skeins are wound on a full 2-yard niddy-noddy. If you don’t have a large swift, let me know. Spun in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.
