Handspun Wensleydale wool yarn, DK weight, 420 yards - Natural White

$42.00 USD

This is a naturally colored white wool yarn. Wensleydale is a dense fiber, so this is a heavy, drapy yarn, but in grist it is a DK weight.

This listing is for one skein with a weight of 7.9 oz., spun at an average of 850 ypp (yards per pound). It wraps at about 12-15. The Wensleydale gives this yarn a lovely haze of hairs, but also makes it a bit stiffer. This is not next-to-the-skin soft, but would be perfect for something that requires strength (a bag or pillow perhaps?) or a shawl with a little halo effect.

Wensleydale is a 30 to 35 micron wool, a long, luster fleece which has shine and halo when spun. People with sensitivity to wool may find this wool a bit too hairy, but would be perfect for something that requires strength (a bag or pillow perhaps?) or a shawl with a little halo effect. These sheep are listed by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust of the U.K. as an “at risk.” Do Google images of them, they are great looking animals in their “Rasta” hairdos.

My skeins are wound on a full 2-yard niddy-noddy. If you don’t have a large swift, let me know. Spun in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.
