Handspun yarn - Alpaca / Merino wool, DK weight, 440 yards - Eiger Gray

$44.00 USD

Quantity Available:     1 only

This handspun yarn is mill-dyed in a uniform shade of gray. It is named for the famed Mt. Eiger in the Bernese Alps

This fiber is a blend of 33% alpaca and 67% Merino wool, creating a yarn of great strength, warmth and durability. It should be suitable for wearing next to the skin.

This listing is for one 2-ply skein, weighing 6.1 oz., spun at an average of 1155 ypp (yards per pound). These 560 yards wrap at approximately 12-15. The higher density of the alpaca makes the yarn heavier than a comparable 100% wool yarn would be.

Like most handspun yarn, it is somewhat thick-and-thin.

My skeins are wound on a full 2-yard niddy-noddy. If you don’t have a large swift, let me know. Spun in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.
