Silk / BFL 30/70% Wool Roving - Cowardly Lion 1 - 4.0 ounces

$17.00 USD

Quantity Available:     1 only

This roving is shades of gold, pink and red.

This is a hand painted roving, or more properly combed top, for hand spinning.

This is a natural oatmeal BFL wool with 30% tussah silk blended into a nice handling top. This has a somewhat different, less fine, hand than our white BFL/Silk. The silk is also a little less integrated than in some of our other silk blends.

BFL is a “multipurpose” sheep breed dating back from the early 1900’s which produce “litters” of three or four lambs with long loins. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. Fortunately, they also have a beautiful soft, long wool that is especially easy to spin, so they are raised to maturity for their lustrous fleeces. The addition of the tussah silk gives this roving added luxury and strength.

Our rovings are dyed with fairly even distribution of colors. Photos are of each side of the coil, so you can see as much of the color as possible. These are the same rovings from which I spin my yarns, so I dye them for that.
