Superwash Merino / Nylon 85/15% wool Roving - Wooden Horse 1 - 4.0 ounces
This roving is shades of brown, rust and gold.
Merino is the standard by which the fineness of wool is graded and is among the softest fleeces in the world. It’s an old breed, originally brought to the Iberian peninsula in the 12th or 13th century. Being small bodied, it is grown mostly for its exquisite wool. The staple is crimpy and shorter than some other popular breeds, but makes up for that in its legendary softness. This is Superwash, so it holds up well to washing, but it is not suitable for felting. The addition of 15% nylon improves durability. This is a great blend for socks!
The dyes “strike” very quickly on Superwash which means that they are depleted quickly and sometimes leave small light streaks in the dyeing process. This can be rectified using additional chemicals, but in deference to our environment, septic tank, and ponds, I am loath to use them. On the other hand, the colors are very vibrant and the fiber is very soft
Our rovings are dyed with fairly even distribution of colors. Photos are of each side of the coil, so you can see as much of the color as possible.
