Handspun yarn - Wool yarn with a hint of sparkly nylon, worsted weight, 340 yards - Raag Shivranjani

$51.00 USD

Quantity Available:     1 only

This yarn is spun from a few different wool types. This particular skein comprises one strand of Merino wool, one of Falkland wool, and one of Glitzy Nylon/Merino wool. This is part of a series 3-ply yarns Ilga is making, in contrast to our more typical 2-ply yarns. This yarn is blue, purple, yellow and green.

This listing is for one 3-ply skein, 340 yards in length and weighing 7.5 oz. This is a worsted weight yarn and wraps at approximately 8-12. Like all handspun yarn, it is somewhat thick-and-thin.

Ilga makes these yarns with something of an improvisatory feel, so we have chosen to draw names for them from the ragas or raags of classical Hindustani music. Ragas are musical frameworks that set a mood or coloration, within which the musicians will improvise during a performance. Many ragas are associated with particular times of day.  The root word for raga in Sanskrit connotes "to dye", connecting it to our work.

Raag Shivranjani is said to be able to calm the destructive rage of Lord Shiva.

See my Store Policy FAQs section for further knitting gauge suggestions for various yard weights and care instructions for different fibers.

My skeins are wound on a full 2-yard niddy-noddy. If you don’t have a large swift, let me know. Spun in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.
