This is a yarn that is especially well suited for making Haapsalu shawls. Haapsalu shawls are very fine knitted lace shawls that were originally made for sale to Russian aristocracy, when they visited the seaside resort of Haapsalu in Estonia. We purchased this ball at the Haapsalu Lace Center when we visited it ourselves a few years ago.
