This is a vintage cone of industrial sewing thread from Usdan Kolmes Industries, labeled as 10/2 Astra Spun. It is high strength, low stretch and abrasian resistant, making it ideal for industrial machine uses. It probably dates from the early 1990s. It could also be used as a specialized weft in weaving projects. 

The cone weighs 4.5 ounces, and was probably originally 8 ounces. It is estimated to hold about 2,000 yards remaining.
