Handspun yarn - Jacob wool, worsted weight, 360 yards - Natural Jacob Humbug 2
$36.00 USD
This is a naturally colored yarn spun from Jacob wool. This is a sturdy yarn, good for your projects that demand durability, but may not be soft enough for next-to-the-skin use for some people. This is a variegated mix of gray and white wools, called Humbug by the mill for its resemblance to a striped British candy.
This is compatible with the skein "Natural Jacob Humbug 1", and they could be combined for a larger project.
This listing is for one two-ply skein, weighing 7.3 ounces., spun at an average of 790 ypp (yards per pound), a heavy worsted weight. These 320 yards wrap at about 8-12. Like most handspun yarn, it is somewhat thick-and-thin.
Jacob sheep are a unique and rare breed, with four horns and spotted black and white fleece. Their origins are ancient and obscure, and may date back to Biblical times. They are classed as a rare breed by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. Theirs is a medium wool, around 35 microns diameter, and about 3.5" staple.
My skeins are wound on a full 2-yard niddy-noddy. If you don’t have a large swift, let me know. Spun in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.
