This is a classic, vintage handweaving yarn from Scotland, probabaly dating to the 1950s. Beehive was a sub-brand of Patons & Baldwins. It was manufactured in Scotland, then imported to the USA, put up into 4 ounces tubes, and distributed by a company called Royal Society. Each tube is approximately 680 yards. This worsted-spun wool is somewhat hairy. 

Aside from some minor tears in the labels, and a price written faintly in pencil, these tubes are in pristine condition. 

The color is a rusty reddish-brown.
